Single-family Portland home damaged by fire

PORTLAND, Maine (WGAN) A single-family home in Portland was seriously damaged in a fire on Thursday afternoon.

Fire officials say the blaze was reported at 322 Stevens Avenue a little after 1:30 P.M. The fire was quickly knocked down, and Stevens Avenue was shut down temporarily.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but officials say a dog that was inside died despite efforts to save it.

The front of the home was seriously damaged.
