FALMOUTH, Maine (AP) Police in Maine are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains over the weekend.

Officials say a couple walking in the woods off Route 100 found the bones in a heavily wooded area of Falmouth on Sunday morning. The remains were taken to the state medical examiner’s office for examination.

State police spokesman Steve McCausland said investigators are checking missing person reports, although none have been filed with Falmouth police.
