A group of workers at the Togus Veterans Medical Center in Augusta have been fired by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.

The union representing the group said all probationary employees were informed over email Monday night that they had been fired for poor performance, despite having good employment records.

The union head said the firings were arbitrary and included some veterans.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs told the media a “small number” of workers were let go.

They went on to say the firings will “have no negative effect on Veteran health care, benefits or other services and will allow VA to focus more effectively on its core mission of serving veterans, families, caregivers and survivors.
