Maine State Police say a 42-year-old man is charged with murder in the death of his mother.

State police say officers responded to an apartment on Congress St. in Bath around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. They found the body of 66-year-old Jeanine Ross, who lived in an apartment at the Moorings apartment complex.

Ross’s body was brought to the medical examiner for an autopsy Wednesday morning. The death was then ruled a homicide.

Detectives arrested Jason Ibarra Tuesday evening and charged him with violation of conditional release. He was then brought to Two Bridges Regional Jail and informed of the murder charge Wednesday afternoon.

Ibarra had been staying with his mother at the time of her death, according to police.

We’re expecting more information about the investigation from court documents.
