South Portland residents experience large power outage Sunday morning

The city of South Portland experienced a large power outage Sunday morning that left just over 1,700 CMP customers without power.

The outage occurred around 7:30 a.m. and was restored to most customers at around 8:20 a.m.

CMP spokesperson Jon Breed told WGAN the cause of the outage was a squirrel.

CMP serves over 14,500 customers in South Portland.
