OWLS HEAD, Maine (WGAN) Maine State Police have arrested and charged a South Thomaston woman with murder for the death of an elderly woman in Owls Head.

State police say a relative discovered the body of 83-year-old Helen Carver in her home on Thursday afternoon. Police say an autopsy was conducted Friday, revealing that Carver died from blunt force trauma. 37-year-old Sarah Richards was charged with murder around 3:00 PM Friday after being questioned at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say the two women knew each other, as Richards had been hired to shovel the woman’s walkway and driveway. Richards is being held at Knox County Jail and will likely appear in court Monday.
