The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office says speed and alcohol appear to be factors in a crash that injured a teenager in Charleston.

According to CBS 13, the single-vehicle crash happened on route 15 just after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Deputies say the teenage boy behind the wheel had an intermediate license.

His car went off the road and hit an embankment, causing him to suffer non-life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to Mayo Hospital for treatment.

No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
