AUGUSTA, Maine (AP)   Maine’s governor could weigh in on legislation to allow sports betting, among other bills passed by lawmakers in the final hours of this year’s legislative session.

Democratic Gov. Janet Mills could veto or sign such bills Tuesday.

Her spokeswoman says pending legislation will not become law if the governor doesn’t on it within ten days after the Legislature’s June 20 adjournment or within three days of the next legislative session.

The governor could act on bills to raise fees on opioid manufacturers to fund treatment and prevention, or join over half a dozen states that allow online sports betting.

Mills has vetoed a handful of bills this session, and as of Monday afternoon had not released further vetoes.

Lawmakers plan to re-consider bond proposals at an undetermined date this summer.
