145 state workers have signed a letter of no confidence in the director of the state’s Office of Child and Family Services.

In their letter, the group of caseworkers, community care workers and case aids criticized OCFS Director Bobbi Johnson for what they say was a failure to address safety issues related to placing children in the state’s care in hotels.

They also claim that DHHS management have ignored staff concerns under Johnson’s leadership.

The union representing the workers also filed a workplace complaint with the Maine Department of Labor regarding the practice of requiring workers to stay overnight in hotels with minors in state custody.
