The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says a 42-year-old Standish woman died after her vehicle went off the road in Baldwin, early Friday morning.

Police found Desiree Lessard’s vehicle on its roof in a small stream that runs next to Marston Road after a woman walking her dog discovered Lessard shortly after 9 a.m. Friday.

Investigators determined she had managed to crawl out of the vehicle and pull herself up onto an embankment, where she died at the scene.

The crash happened on an unimproved section of Marston Road, which is not plowed or maintained during the winter months, which police believe was a factor in the crash.
