State police charge woman accused of punching trooper and escaping from police cruiser

HOLLIS, Maine (WGAN) Maine State Police say a woman who punched a trooper and escaped from a cruiser in Hollis faces multiple charges.

State police said they responded to a report of a woman breaking her ex-boyfriend’s truck windows with a pipe around 1:40 a.m. on Wednesday. The woman was identified as 29-year-old Sharleen Hoffman of Hollis.

Police arrived at Hoffman’s home, where they say she punched her mother and one of the responding Troopers in the face. Hoffman then managed to escape from the cruiser she was put into and fled. She was located shortly after and taken back into custody.

Hoffman was taken to York County Jail with bail set at $2,500. She faces a slew of charges including domestic violence, criminal trespass, and refusing to submit, and escaping from custody.
