State Trooper Hurt in Turnpike Crash

NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine (WGAN)  The Maine Turnpike’s northbound lanes were closed from Gray to Auburn as State Police investigated a crash involving a State trooper.

The trooper was injured after his cruiser was struck by a tractor trailer in New Gloucester, near the Auburn line, at mile 70.

The trooper had been at that location as he was investigating two cars that had slid off the highway. His cruiser was struck from behind, while he was sitting in it.

That crash took place shortly after 5 a.m.

The trooper has been taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with non life threatening injuries.
