STRIVE Fundraiser Surpasses goal to reach $96,000 for Nonprofit

The “Kevin on the Roof” fundraiser at Patriot Subaru in Saco blew past its goal of $85,000 this year, as Kevin Fitzpatrick raised $96,000 for the nonprofit STRIVE.

STRIVE Program Director Alex Woodhouse says every dollar raised will go to support their programs for teens, tweens and young adults with intellectual disabilities.

“We have a variety of programs, you know, that focus on social opportunities, education, transition, post-secondary program, and every single penny is going to go directly to support those programs and support our participants to gain independent living skills,” Woodhouse said.

The goal for the “Kevin on the Roof” fundraiser has increased over the years due to inflation, which allows STRIVE to expand its services.

Woodhouse says they’ll be able to start new programs for their clients.

“We’re always looking to add new programs to support, you know, our participants needs and what they want to see,” said Woodhouse. “You know, most recently, we started a Tuesday Art Studio series. So, all this money allows us to continue to grow and to provide new opportunities for our participants to grow and learn.”

Woodhouse says they could possibly set a goal of $100,000 in upcoming “Kevin on the Roof” fundraisers.

Kevin came off the roof at 2pm last Thursday after 192 hours. He raised a total $96,344.70 for STRIVE

Fitzpatrick himself is the program director for STRIVE U, which is a residential program where people gain work experience in areas not typically open to people with developmental disabilities.

STRIVE also provides extensive job preparation and training to complement the work experience.
