Students at Scarborough High School returned to class Wednesday after a threatening text message was sent to a student.

The district closed the school Tuesday and also cancelled all after-school activates.

According to the Portland Press Herald, police are now saying the threat came from out of state and was not credible.

Officials say Scarborough police and “an outside law enforcement agency” identified a juvenile suspect, who is now facing unspecified criminal charges.

Further details about the threat have were not released.

In a message to the school community, superintendent Geoff Bruno said police would be present at school Wednesday morning to provide additional assurance for parents and students.
