Police say the suspect in a robbery that took place outside of a bank in Saco was taken into custody after fleeing into the dressing rooms of a nearby department store.

Officers responded to the front parking lot of the TD Bank in the Saco Valley Shopping Center around 10 a.m. Thursday. The victim told police a man had stolen deposit bags out of his hands and then fled.

A witness tried to tackle the suspect as he fled, causing him to drop what was later determined to be a pellet gun and a disguise.

Saco Police found the suspect hiding inside one of the clothing area dressing rooms at Reny’s, where he was taken into custody. He was identified as 21-year-old Cody Ross, who is currently a transient.

Ross also had two outstanding warrants for his arrest for failing to appear from thefts in Biddeford.

He’s being held at York County Jail and will make his first court appearance in December.
