Suspect in Bangor Robbery In Custody

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) Bangor police have arrested a 69-year-old robbery suspect.

Police responded to 353 Main Street to a reported robbery around 8:20 A.M. on Friday. A man had entered the store demanding money and claiming to have a firearm. He was found outside of the building by police minutes later. He was identified as George Gatcomb of Bangor.

Gatcomb was taken into custody without incident. No weapons were found on his person.

Police say the man has a lengthy criminal history and is currently on federal probation.

He’s charged with robbery and is being held at Penobscot County Jail on $5,060 bail.
