Suspicious death under investigation in Westbrook

The Maine Dept. of Public Safety announced Wednesday morning that a death in Westbrook is considered suspicious.

A press release from public safety spokeswoman Shannon Moss says a 911 call requesting help came in shortly after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Police responded to an apartment building on Mechanic St. and discovered a deceased male.

No furthur information about that person’s identiity was released.

The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy was expected to be performed Wednesday.

Maine State Police and Westbrook police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

No further details were provided in the release.
