Tanker truck hauling milk overturns on turnpike in Falmouth

FALMOUTH, Maine (WGAN) A tanker truck carrying milk overturned on the turnpike in Falmouth Thursday afternoon.

Maine State Police say the wreck blocked the southbound exit that leads to the Falmouth spur at mile 52. Police say the tractor trailer was travelling too fast at the exit and collided with the median guardrail, overturned and came to rest on it’s side.

The driver was identified as 21-year-old Ian Chadbourne of Palmyra, who was taken to Maine Medical Center with minor injuries.

About half of the 6,000 gallons of milk the truck was carrying spilled. The rest of the cargo was being pumped out.
