Teen Bicyclist Struck By Car Dies From Injuries

BELFAST, Maine (AP) — A 15-year-old girl who was struck by a car while riding her bike over the weekend has died.

Laila Al-Matrouk, of Belfast, died Tuesday. According to a Facebook post by her sister, the teen had been on life support.

Police say Al-Matrouk was struck by a passing car Sunday on Route 1 in Belfast as she tried to make a left turn. She was taken to the hospital with severe injuries.

Police haven’t charged the driver involved in the crash. An investigation continues.
