Teen pulls knife on employees while stealing alcohol from Bangor Walmart, police say

BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) A 19-year-old is facing charges after Bangor police say he pulled a knife on Walmart employees as they attempted to stop him from stealing a shopping cart full of alcohol.

According to a Tuesday press release from the Bangor Police Dept., employees say the suspect pulled the knife on them Saturday evening and then pushed the cart into the parking area of a nearby business, where he got into a vehicle.

Police located the vehicle and stopped it on Hogan Rd., but the suspect wasn’t inside.

The suspect was located a short time later behind a business on Hogan Road.

The teen was identified as Niri Scott of Portage Lake, which is in Aroostook County.

Police say he admitted to stealing the alcohol but denied brandishing a knife.

Scott was charged with robbery and taken to the Penobscot County Jail.

Police say they recovered about $300 worth of alcohol.
