Maine State Police have identified two teenagers involved in a fatal crash in Steuben.

The single-vehicle crash happened Sunday around 1:30 p.m. on Unionville Road. Police say the vehicle went over a hill and went airborne. The driver lost control and the vehicle struck a tree on the passenger side.

The passenger, 17-year-old Cole Merchant of Sullivan was found dead at the scene. The driver, 18-year-old Chase Atwater of Steuben, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash is still under investigation but police say speed appears to be a factor.
