Teenager dies in dirt bike crash on island in Maine

LITTLE DEER ISLE, Maine (AP) Police in Maine say they are investigating a crash in which a 13-year-old boy died after losing control of his dirt bike on an island.

WGME-TV reports the crash killed John Hovey IV when he lost control of the bike and hit a utility pole. He died at the scene of the crash.

Police say the crash happened on Monday night on Little Deer Isle. They say he was wearing a helmet and protective clothing at the time of the crash.
