The latest COVID-19 Surge in Maine continues to ease with 467 new cases Friday

The Maine CDC reported 467 new cases on Friday with four additional deaths and 152 people in the hospital with COVID-19 as the numbers continue to subside.   Yesterday 680 new cases were reported and 836 cases were reported the day prior to that.  The seven-day average of daily new cases is now 519.9 down from 591.6 a week ago but still higher than 316.7 a month ago.  The percent positive rate has decreased to 4.43 percent down from 6 percent a few weeks ago.

The number of people hospitalized has dropped from a high of 235 people on September 25 to 152 reported yesterday and the number of patients in the ICU and on the ventilator also took a tumble in recent days.   Data reported yesterday showed 46 people in the ICU and 23 on ventilators which represents a drop of 45 percent and 80 percent respectively.

Across the U.S. COVID-19 Hospitalizations have also dropped by 28 percent over the last two weeks.
