State police say a young driver was killed Sunday night when his pickup truck crashed along I-295 in Richmond.

Troopers say their investigation shows he was likely texting while driving.

Antonio Martinez, 22, lived in Waterville. He was a student at Thomas College.

He died after he lost control of the truck, which rolled several times before coming to rest off the breakdown lane.

Investigators say the wreck happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, and it wasn’t discovered until a passerby spotted it at about 4:30 a.m. on Monday.

Martinez was not wearing his seatbelt.

Police say it appears speed and were not factors in the crash.
