Thornton Academy in Saco Briefly Locked Down Monday

Thornton Academy in Saco says the school was temporarily put into lockdown this morning after a threatening phone call came in at 9 am.

The school says they contacted police and put the school into a lockdown.

Saco police determined the school was safe, and the lockdown at Thornton Academy was lifted at 9:16 a.m.

A social media post by the school read as follows:

Dear Families:

This morning at 9:00AM Thornton Academy received a threatening call, we immediately contacted the Saco Police and out of an abundance of caution went into lockdown. The police determined that the school was safe and the lockdown was lifted at 9:16AM. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Please know that the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority.
