Central Maine Power reported thousands of outages Tuesday morning.

During an appearance Tuesday on the WGAN Morning News, CMP President and CEO Doug Herling said the outages were caused by the wet, heavy snow that fell across the region Monday night into Tuesday.

He said crews first responded around 11 p.m. or midnight.

Herling said 48,000 customers lost power, with Cumberland County being the hardest hit area.
