Police say three people were arrested and hundreds of cannabis plants were seized when an illegal marijuana growing operation was raided Wednesday in Somerset County.

Officials say it’s not clear, but it could be connected to reports of illegal Chinese-run marijuana growing operations in Maine.

Sheriff Dale Lancaster says 750 growing marijuana plants and 90 pounds of processed marijuana buds were seized from a home on West Ridge Road in Cornville.

According to the Morning Sentinel, officials across Maine say they’ve been investigating unlicensed marijuana growers.

Earlier this month, five people were arrested and thousands of plants were seized when police raided illegal grow sites at homes in China, Maine and Belgrade.
