Three Arrested on Drug Charges in Knox County

WARREN, Maine (WGAN)  The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says three people were arrested Wednesday following a crack cocaine investigation in Knox and Lincoln counties.

Drug agents say they had been investigating the distribution of crack cocaine and heroin in the mid-coast by a group from New York for two weeks.

Wednesday afternoon, agents arrested 38-year-old Derrick Presha from Buffalo, New York and 32-year-old Kenneth Judkins from Waldoboro.  Agents say they were arrested during a drug deal in a parking lot along Route 1 in Warren.

At the same time, other agents wree trying to arrest 31-year-old Chamara Cox from Rochester, New York, who had driven Presha to the location in a rental car.  AGents say Cox refused to get out of the car and sped off, leading police on a chase.

Police say during the chase, Cox was seen throwing small bags of crack cocaine out the window of the car.  Four bags were eventually recovered and when Cox was caught, four more were found in the car, containing crack cocaine.

Drug agents and police then searched two motel rooms in Thomaston that had been rented by Presha and Cox.  In all, 50 grams of crack cocaine, 25 individual doses of crack cocaine, six grams of heroin and $3,000 in suspected drug proceeds were seized.

Presha and Cox were each charged with aggravated trafficking and taken to Knox County Jail where bail was set at $50,000 each.

Judkins was charged with violating conditions or release and refusing to submit to arrest.  He’s being held without bail due to violating his bail for a prior drug trafficking case.
