Three Mainers Die in Florida Boat Accident

Three Maine residents are dead after a boat they were aboard capsized in a Florida river over the weekend.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reports Craig Millett, along with his wife, Brenna Millett, and Rebecca Knight, died after their 39-foot speedboat overturned in the Caloosahatchee River near Cape Coral Yacht Club in Cape Cora on Saturday.

The commission says Brenna Millett and Knight died Saturday in a hospital, while Craig Millett’s body was recovered Sunday.

A fourth person, Neal Kirby, was injured and was in critical condition at a hospital as of Monday.

The commission says witnesses reported they saw the boat flip over, possibly due to the wind.

The U.S. Coast Guard, Cape Coral police and fire and Lee County emergency services were all called to the scene of the incident on Saturday night. The investigation is being led by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
