Portland, ME  (WGAN)     State Police say a tractor trailer that went off Interstate 295 in Portland this morning and ended up along mudflats will be removed tonight.

The plan is for the southbound lanes of the Interstate to be closed at 9pm to allow room for wreckers to remove the big rig.

Traffic at 9pm will be diverted at Exit 10 in Falmouth for southbound traffic.

The Maine Department of Transportation will assist police with the road closure, which could take 2 to 3 hours.

Troopers said the truck went off the snow covered roadway at 6:45 this morning, crashed through guardrails and ended up off the road upright.

The driver , 34 year old Henry Kabeta of Huntsville, Alabama was not injured and he was not charged.

The trailer portion of the truck was empty.
