A driver and passenger escaped injury when their tractor-trailer caught fire in Aroostook County.

Maine State Police say the tractor-trailer hauling beer caught fire on I-95 near mile 277 south in Island Falls around 7 p.m. Monday. The fire started after an inner passenger tire blew. The flames spread and started to engulf the trailer. The driver was able to separate the tractor unit before the fire spread to the front of the trailer.

I-95 was shut down for about two hours while crews put out the fire and removed the truck.
