Tractor-trailer hauling french fries overturns; driver suffers minor injuries

SCARBOROUGH, Maine (WGAN) Police say a tractor-trailer hauling 80,000 pounds of french fries overturned on a turnpike on-ramp in Scarborough on Thursday.

Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says the driver suffered minor injuries.

It happened at the on-ramp at mile 42, which was closed temporarily. McCausland says the driver, 74-year-old Robert Skidget of Saco, was going too fast on a curve when the truck overturned.

The Maine DEP was on scene, as there was some leakage from the truck’s fuel tanks.

Police say “the fate of the fries” was not immediately known.
