Police say the scene of a rollover crash involving a tractor-trailer on I-295 southbound has been cleared, and the driver has been released from the hospital.

Authorities said the driver, 52-year-old Preston Beaton of Canada, was treated and released from Maine Medical Center.

The crash happened on 295 near exit 11 at 4:10 a.m. Thursday, prompting the closure of the exit and the Route 1 on-ramp (or Falmouth Spur) for several hours. The road was closed to traffic until about 10:40 a.m.

Beaton was hauling frozen hash browns when the truck overturned.

There was no word about any other injuries resulting from the crash. Police are investigating.
