ALFRED, Maine (AP) The trial for a former Maine high school teacher who’s accused of having sex with a student is set to begin this week.

WMTW-TV reports opening arguments were scheduled to begin Monday in York County Superior Court in the trial of Jill Lamontagne, who has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including gross sexual assault, sexual abuse of a minor and unlawful sexual touching.

Prosecutors say the former health teacher had a relationship with the student at Kennebunk High School in 2017.

Lamontagne’s lawyer, Scott Gardner, has said that his client never had a sexual relationship with the student. Gardner labeled the accusations “teenage fantasies.”
