VASSALBORO, Maine (WGAN) A Maine State Police Trooper located a missing elderly man who wandered from his home in Vassalboro during this week’s winter storm and carried him to safety.

Police were searching for 82-year-old Bernard Perry, who suffers from Alzheimer’s.

A local plow driver told police he saw a man walking around in the area Wednesday morning.

Trooper Tyler Harrington found Perry in a ditch and carried him to his cruiser.

Perry was taken to the hospital where he’s recovering from frostbite and hypothermia.

Perry’s family gave permission to police to share dashcam video of the heroic rescue.
