BOWDOINHAM, Maine (AP)   State police say they expect to bring charges against a driver whose car crashed into an ice cream truck on Interstate 295 in Bowdoinham.

Troopers say 22-year-old Alyx Wharton, of West Gardiner, was behind the wheel when her car approached the ice cream truck and hit it from behind, causing it to overturn Monday. She was treated at the scene, and two occupants of the ice cream truck were treated at a hospital.

State Police say they believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

A state police spokesman said Wharton was not arrested and that the investigation is continuing. A telephone message for Wharton wasn’t immediately returned and it’s unknown if she has a lawyer.
