Maine was getting drenched by heavy rain from Tropical Storm Elsa Friday.

A flash flood watch issued by the National Weather Service was expected to remain in place until Saturday morning.

Weather forecasters from CBS 13 said tropical downpours could overwhelm drainage systems and also streams and creeks.

Local meteorologists said rain in some areas could come down at a rate of one inch per hour. The NWS even said some parts of the state could see two inches per hour.

CBS 13 said winds were expected to be gusty, but not extreme, with gusts of about 20 to 30 mph.
