The Transportation Security Administration says its officers prevented a man from bringing a loaded handgun onto a flight at the Portland Jetport on Sunday.

TSA officers notified Portland police, who say the loaded 9mm and a total of 21 rounds were found in the man’s backpack.

According to CBS 13, the North Carolina man said he meant to leave it in his vehicle but forgot because he was in a hurry.

Police escorted the man back to his vehicle to secure the firearm.

This was the second loaded gun detected at the jetport in four days.

This is also the third firearm detection at the jetport this year, the same number of firearms detected at the airport in all of 2022.
