BANGOR, Maine (WGAN) Bangor police say two people are under arrest on drug charges after a traffic stop Tuesday morning.
Sergeant Wade Betters says 39-year-old Heidi McComb of Bangor and her passenger, 32-year-old Robert Arrington of Brooklyn, New York, were stopped on High Street around 11am on Tuesday. The officer noticed that Arrington was trying to hide a package of drugs in his mouth. After refusing to spit it out, Arrington lunged at the officer, according to police. Three other motorists stopped to help, and Arrington was eventually subdued.
Police say the bag contained about 19 grams of suspected crack cocaine and 5 grams of heroin, with a street value of about $2,900.
Arrington was charged with drug trafficking, assault on an officer, and refusing to submit to arrest, with bail set at $150,000. McComb faces charges of violating conditions of release and drug possession. Her bail was set at $200,000. Both are being held at Penobscot County Jail and had not made bail as of Wednesday morning.
