Two people rescued after trying to save dogs on icy pond in Fairfield

Two people were rescued after falling through the ice on a pond in Fairfield.

It happened as they tried to rescue two dogs that had gone out on the ice, including one that had fallen through the ice and was in the water.

The people who tried to rescue the dogs had been pulled into canoes and were safe before first responders arrived. However, one canoe got stuck in the broken ice, and rescuers had to use another canoe to pull it to shore.

The people who were rescued told responders they were okay, and they declined to go to the hospital.

As for the dogs, one of them is said to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
