Two People Rescued in Portland Residential Fire

Two people are safe after being rescued from a residential fire in Portland on Wednesday.

Firefighters say they were called to 249 Spring Street for a fire in the basement and first floor of the two-and-a-half-story multi-family building.

They say they made sure two people escaped the fire after being alerted residents were still inside when they arrived.

Firefighters say they were able to extinguish the fire in less than 20 minutes after arriving on the scene at 10:09 am Wednesday.

The fire is still under investigation with no cause or origin information at this time. No injuries occurred to residents or firefighters.
