An officer with the Maine Capitol Police is credited with saving the lives of two people suffering from an overdose.

Capitol Police Officer Gary Boulet was on patrol Friday evening when he was alerted to two people who appeared to be sleeping in a parked vehicle nearby on Arsenal Road.

Boulet found that the two men were overdosing, and began giving first aid. One man was revived with Narcan, while the other regained consciousness after Boulet made multiple attempts to resuscitate him.

Both men were treated and released from the hospital.

The number of Narcan dosages carried by Capitol Police increased in April, following an incident in Clinton in which officers there responded to two overdose calls simultaneously and used up all of the Narcan they had available. Both of those individuals survived as well.
