U.S. Imported Enormous Amount of Seafood in 2017

Last year, the United States imported more fish than ever before.

Over 6 billion pounds of seafood were brought in by the U.S. in 2017, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The imported seafood is valued at more than $21.5 billion.

The Portland Press Herald reports the U.S. exported around 3.6 billion pounds of seafood, valued at about $6 billion.

The top countries the U.S. buys seafood from are Canada, Chile, and China.
