One man was killed and another was injured in a UTV crash in Aroostook County.

The accident happened around 10:30 Sunday night in Westfield. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says 40-year-old Jason Wilmot of Portland was driving a UTV side-by-side with 44-year-old Chris Foster of Gorham as his passenger.

Officials said Wilmot was unable to negotiate a turn, ejecting both occupants. Wilmot became pinned under the UTV and died at the scene. Foster suffered head injuries and was taken to AR Gould Hospital in Presque Isle.

The driver and passenger were not wearing helmets and were not buckled in. An initial investigation suggests alcohol was a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
