A fatal fire in Fort Kent is considered accidental.

The fire broke out Monday at an apartment building on East Main Street.

The Fire Marshal’s Office says a woman found on the first floor who died has been tentatively identified as 56-year-old Ruth Charles.

Investigators say the cause of the fire could have been electrical or a candle.

Two other tenants were temporarily displaced.
