Wildlife officials are offering a $1,000 reward for information about the illegal killing of a deer.

The Maine Warden Service says wardens found the large buck deer in Wesley on Wednesday in a field off Route 192 near Guptill Road.

Wardens say the 280 pound deer was shot and left to waste.

Wardens are asking to speak to anyone who was in the area Tuesday evening and may have seen any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information is asked to call Maine Operation Game Thief at 1-800-253-7887.
