GREENVILLE, Maine (AP) – The Maine Warden Service says it has found the body of a Massachusetts man whose empty boat was discovered near the shore of an island on Moosehead Lake.

The Portland Press Herald reports that divers recovered the body of 66-year-old Robert Hammond, of Hanson, Massachusetts, on Saturday. It was unclear how he ended up in the water. An autopsy will be performed.

The boat was found in shallow water Friday. Wardens went to Hammond’s campsite at Spencer Bay and learned that he had not been seen since Thursday.
