LUBEC, Maine (WGAN) Police say they’ve confirmed the identity of a woman found dead in the trunk of a car.

Last week, police said they believed the body was that of 58-year-old Eva Cox, who lived at a home nearby with her boyfriend, 65-year-old Paul DeForest.

Public Safety Spokeswoman Shannon Moss says police responded to a report of an altercation at the home on Jan. 10th. After finding evidence that something suspicious had happened inside, they began searching for the pair.

Cox’s body was found the following day, and investigators obtained a search warrant for DeForest, who was found at a home in Warrenton, Virginia. He came outside after a negotiation with police over the phone and was arrested without further incident.

Moss says DeForest did not waive extradition, and will appear in court on Wednesday. He’s being held on a fugitive from justice warrant.

No other details about Cox’s death have been released.
