A Waterford man was taken to the hospital following a serious motorcycle crash on Sunday.

Police say it happened when the 31-year-old man who was operating the motorcycle missed a corner on Maple Ridge Road in Harrison.

He was thrown from the bike and found in the road by someone in the area.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Maine Medical Center by LifeFlight.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says the man was not wearing a helmet while driving unregistered bike.

The road was closed for several hours following Sunday’s crash.
