Westbrook Home Heavily Damaged from Fire

Westbrook House Fire - Maine State Fire Marshal's Office

A home in Westbrook has heavy damage from a late night fire Monday.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office says it was contacted by the Westbrook Fire Department at 1 am Tuesday to investigate the fire at 37 Haskell Street in Westbrook.

They say the home sustained extensive structural damage, including an interior collapse, bowed walls and a partially collapsed foundation.

investigators say the home’s condition prevented them from conducting an examination, but the fire appears to have started in the home’s basement.

They say several electrical issues were observed in the area of origin, but they were not able to determine whether those issues contributed to the fire.

Investigators say electrical involvement cannot be ruled out. The cause of the fire remains undetermined.

No one was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.
